Generating Your Slack Webhook URL

This guide shows you how to create a special, secure link in Slack that allows an external service, like Mine, to post messages directly to a channel you choose.

Step 1: Create a New Slack App

  1. Navigate to the Slack API: Your Apps page: https://api.slack.com/apps

  2. Click the "Create an App" button (or "Create new App" if you already have other apps).
    1-3

  3. Select "From scratch" on configuration:
    2-3

    • Name the App: Give it a simple, descriptive name (e.g., "MineOS Notifications").

    • Pick a Workspace: Select the Slack workspace where you want the messages to be posted. Mine is the name of our namespace, you'll see your company's name/namespace.
      3-2

    • Click "Create App."

Step 2: Activate Incoming Webhooks

  1. After creating the app, you will land on the Basic Information page.

  2. In the left-hand menu, under Features, click on "Incoming Webhooks."
    5-2

  3. Toggle the switch to "On" to activate Incoming Webhooks.

Step 3: Generate and Copy the URL

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the Incoming Webhooks page and click the button: "Add New Webhook to Workspace."
    6-1

  2. This will open a new Slack screen asking for authorization.

  3. Make sure the target channel exists (i.e., create if needed) and is public.
  4. Use the dropdown menu to select the public channel where the external service should post messages (e.g., #mine-notifications, #alerts, or any other public channel).

  5. Click "Install {App Name}".
    4-3

  6. There will be a green banner of success.
  7. You will be returned to the Webhooks configuration page. A new Webhook URL will now be listed:
    7

  8. Click 'Copy ' right to the URL (it starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/...) and use it as input for your integration or provide it to the Customer Success Manager/Solution Engineer.

🔑 Important: This URL is the only thing needed for the integration. It allows Mine to post messages in that channel only.

To add a Mine icon:

  1. In your new App, select Basic Information.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click on App icon & Preview
  3. Add this logo:
    mine_logo_black_slack
