Data types offered in the portal
A complete reference of the data types available in Mine OS, grouped by category
About data types
Data types are the labels that help us categorize which individual data points are where (in any service). For example, a service like Salesforce will include data types that describe the customer data it stores or processes — like Email address, First name, and Phone number, among others.
The Mine portal comes with a predefined list of data types, organized into categories so you can quickly find the right label for the data your systems hold. When you add data types to a system (either manually or via Mine AI Suggestions), you’ll be choosing from the list below.
Each category also includes an (any) option (e.g., Contact info (any)). Use this when you know a system holds data in that category but you’re not sure of the specific data type, or when the data doesn’t fit any of the more specific labels.

A few tips for choosing the right type
When you’re mapping a system, start with the most specific type that fits. For example, if a system stores credit card numbers, choose Credit card number rather than Financial info (any) — the more precise your data types are, the more accurate your records of processing, risk assessments, and DSR responses will be.
Reach for the (any) option in a category when:
- The system clearly holds data in that category, but you don’t yet know which specific fields.
- The data point doesn’t map cleanly to any of the more specific types listed.
- You want to flag a system for follow-up before drilling down into specifics.
If you’re still unsure which types apply to a particular system, you can send it to a teammate for review from the system’s data types pane.
